What Does Probate Mean?
Probate is the legal process that occurs when a person dies and his / her estate is distributed.
The estate is distributed in one of two ways:
- If there is a will, the estate will be distributed according to the terms of the will
- If there is not a will, the estate will be distributed according to intestate succession laws
