Allison Harper is a longstanding and valued member of the Pacific Cascade Legal team. Having started with the firm as a legal intern in 2017, Allison has had the unique opportunity of learning about the nuances and complexities of family law through hands-on work experience while simultaneously earning her law degree. With years of experience as a legal intern, paralegal, and practicing attorney, she is an exceptionally knowledgeable, proficient, and confident advocate for her clients.
Originally from California, Allison attended her first year of law school at the University of La Verne College of Law, before moving to Oregon with her now-husband, where she completed her J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School. With a background working as a paralegal in Worker’s Compensation, Allison continued in this field for a time before making the move to family law, which allowed her to shift her focus from large businesses to individual clients—a change which best fit her strengths and personality. As a family law attorney with years of experience, Allison most enjoys the rewarding aspect of being able to help families navigate what can be a complex system and being a pillar of strength when clients need it most. As Kamala Harris once said, which resonates with Allison today, “What matters most is that we see ourselves in one another’s struggles.”
Allison’s impressive work ethic, drive, and heart behind pursuing law school was instilled in her from a young age by her late mother. With her own dream to become an attorney, Allison’s mother attended her first year of law school during a time when the profession didn’t see many female attorneys, and as only one of two women in her class. Now, as Allison thinks back to the life events which most inspired her to pursue law, it’s her mother’s fierce determination and passion for people, and her parent’s unwavering belief in Allison to be able to achieve any goals she set her mind to, which led her to where she is today. According to Allison, “my parents gave me two of the best things I could ever have – life and love—and I am dedicated to honoring their legacy in carrying out my career and how I conduct myself.”
With a husband who is her greatest supporter, a young daughter who brings her deep joy, two rescue golden retrievers, and two cats, Allison’s days do not lack in excitement or a rich sense of purpose. Outside of work, Allison enjoys cooking new recipes at home with her husband, kickboxing, reading and listening to podcasts, playing board games, and putting her knack for home décor to good use. When asked about how she would spend her perfect day, Allison paints the picture of a latte in hand, exploring a local farmers market with her daughter, and ending the evening with a date night with her husband, or in the community with friends.
