The road which led Ben Brown to where he is today in his career is one that began after an unexpected and transformative event that transpired in his late teens. After being mugged at gunpoint in college, Ben set his sights on law school so that he could pursue criminal prosecution; however, once entering the field, he realized he was highly adept at family law, and found fulfillment in helping to lead clients out of bad situations and onto better days ahead. Licensed to practice in Louisiana, Texas and Washington, Ben has acquired a vast pool of knowledge and understanding of the nuances that often encompass family law cases.
Born and raised in Louisiana, Ben attended Mississippi College School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2012. It was on a cross-country road trip with his wife, Lilith, when Ben discovered the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and purposed to relocate to the area. According to Ben, “I love the natural world—the mountains, the moss, the trees. Oregon reminds of the forests in Louisiana, but without the hurricanes, alligators, poisonous snakes, and heat and humidity.”
A self-professed intellectual, Ben finds fulfillment spending his free-time pursuing activities that ignite his colorful sense of imagination and desire to learn about history. Ben’s interests include historical reenactments, renaissance festivals, blacksmithing, axe throwing, rock-hounding, camping and fishing, and traveling internationally. He also loves to game, read, write, collect antiques and historical artifacts, and spend time with his five wolfdogs, who never fail to keep him entertained.
When asked to name someone who he admires, Ben references one of America’s greatest historical writers: Mark Twain. According to Ben, “I admire Mark Twain quite a lot—he was a very witty man. He once said, ‘When we remember that we are all mad, the mysteries disappear, and life stands explained.’”
